Two looms behind the temple. Now forty weaver families strong.
Started by a weaver who wanted no middlemen
Sannidhi Silks began in 2004 as a two-loom workshop a few lanes from the Kamakshi Amman temple, run by master weaver Raghavan and his wife Kamala. Their rule was simple: sell exactly what you weave, and never mark up a saree you didn't make yourself. That rule is still the reason the pricing here reads lower than most Kanjivaram showrooms — there's no middleman's margin built in.
The workshop has since grown into a small showroom that works directly with forty weaver families across Kanchipuram, but every order is still checked by hand — pallu, border, and zari — before it's packed. Can't visit in person? A video call gets you the same look at the drape and the zari that you'd get standing in the showroom.
